Day of Ruby in Tampa - A Little Out of My Element, but...

I just stumbled upon the Day of Ruby in Tampa ( one in Orlando, too ), which is a free one day event to get your hands on and up to speed on Ruby, Rails, and all the goodness of dynamic programming.

Cory Foy had the best description:

“Both events are totally free events targeted at .NET, Java and PHP developers who have been wanting to get their hands on with Ruby, Rails, RSpec, Shoes and other frameworks - but who don't normally have the opportunity in their day to day work. We'll cover creating Ruby Desktop and Web Applications.“

The following blog description of the event was enticing, too:

“This is the blog for the Day of Ruby series. What is Day of Ruby? It’s a chance to get your hands dirty with one of the coolest languages out there - Ruby! Day of Ruby is a free, one day event featuring sessions on Ruby, Rails, Deploying Rails, Building GUIs with Ruby, using IronRuby and JRuby and more.“

Now that I am all into the ASP.NET MVC Framework, I at least one to take a peek at Rails. Curious about Ruby in general, too. I wonder if I bring my laptop if they walk you through getting everything running on it :)

You can't beat a free day of training that is specifically targeted at .NET developers who are unfamiliar with the technology as well as free lunch, etc. It is almost as cool as the Tampa ASP.NET MVC Developer Group. Almost :)

Yeah, I registered.
